Hi
I was looking for this Post that my Friend Roger Armbrust wrote and I fell down the rabbit hole of all his writings ~ sometimes, after I would post a new painting Roger would immediately write a poem about it and I was always in Awe and Grateful! My favorite was the poem he Titled "Howl" written after he saw and read what I wrote about the painting with the same name ~
I was off Social Media since last October until a month or so again and wasn't able to pay my heartfelt gratitude and respect to him on here!
His funeral was the most uplifting, unique and beautiful approach to his legacy and I was so Honored I got to go and especially to meet his amazing daughter Cat! Roger spoke of her often with pride and respect and after meeting her I can see why.
Above is the article he wrote about my Art Show in 2024 ~
There truly are no words to describe my love and gratitude for having known him for so many years and to truly call him Friend! If you happen to read this article, stay a little longer and read his other words!
HOWL
for Michelle Renee
I saw Ginsberg twice in NYC, once
a Beat reunion at the Small Press Fair.
Thirty feet away on stage, his gaze pounced
on Corso, seated drunk behind him, care-
less to his friend’s reading a bright poem
advising us about our writing. “Don’t
drink too much.” Corso flinched, line jabbing him
in slack jaw. He howled a “F**k you!” I want-
ed to cry, but laughed. I saw the great one
again at Dean & Deluca, two years,
I think, before he died. He sat alone,
reading a book, sipping coffee, no fears
of being bothered. Now he’s in your painting,
seated in moon, back to us, meditating.
