In 2008, a group of citizens came together to plan and conduct grand opening events in recognition of the newly rebuilt Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (MTCC). This vision was successfully carried out in September 2008 with a gala featuring the Count Basie Orchestra and a day of public celebratory events. Members of this working group soon realized, there is more work to be done to support the MTC
C. In 2009, several members of the initial working group began to meet to discuss ways in which our community could financially support unfunded activities of the MTCC. From these discussions, the Friends of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (FMTCC) was born. The purpose of the Friends of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center non-profit 501 (C) (3) support Organization is to develop and implement strategies to raise funds in support of the MTCC and its mission. Specifically, the Friends will be recognized as an independent entity in its structure and operation.

Rest in Peace, Say McIntosh, your life and legacy will always be remembered and celebrated in Arkansas and at Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
Well-known Little Rock civil rights activist Robert โSayโ McIntosh has passed away at the age of 79.
โThe way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.โ
This quote by Ida B. Wells is poignant today, Juneteenth, for it was on this day in 1865 that the truth of emancipation finally reached formerly enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas.
Celebrate by supporting Black-owned businesses, and restaurants, or Black culture preservation organizations such as Friends of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. We work year-round to support programming at MTCC which educates the public about the rich history and contributions of African Americans throughout Arkansas history. https://friendsofmtcc.com/donate

The Board of Directors of Friends of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center sends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Herb Rule. Herb was a treasured member of our board for well over a decade.
Not only was Herb a loving father, civil rights advocate, former elected official, public servant, US Marine, lover of music and the performing arts, Herb loved Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
Herb was a central figure in obtaining our IRS nonprofit designation, supporting all of our events, and fighting for the legislation that created the MTCC through Arkansas Act 1176 of 2001.
Herb was often lovingly referred to as our favorite "curmudgeon" as was often unyielding in his thoughts and opinions concerning what he wanted to see happen at MTCC.
To all that knew Herb,on this we can all agree. Herb fought for and supported the things he believed in and there will never be another one like him.
Friday at noon, learn while you lunch!
Just one week until the next Sandwiching in History tour!
This time we are at the Daisy Bates House in Little Rock. Join us as we explore this National Historic Landmark, part of a pivotal moment in Arkansas history.
