Here is a different outlook on traveling Route 66. Meet John Rosbrugh, who bicycled Route 66 from Santa Monica to Chicago from April 5, 2025 to June 1, 2025. He was through Litchfield on May 27th of 2025.

His wife Linda was his support driver.

His book is available from Barnes and Noble, Amazon and Outskirts Press.

✨️Happy Birthday Lake Lou Yaeger!✨️

Today we celebrate 60 years of Lake Lou Yaeger being a place where memories are made, traditions are passed down, and generations gather to enjoy the outdoors.

When Mayor Lou Yaeger first envisioned the lake project, he saw more than just a reservoir. He believed the area could become something special for the entire community. Through determination, planning, and support from many local leaders and residents, that vision became a reality in 1966.

As local historian Andy Furman shares in The History of Lake Lou Yaeger 1872-2020, the creation of the lake was a bold undertaking that transformed the area into what would become “one of the greatest recreational assets in the region.”

Over the past 60 years, Lake Lou Yaeger has become woven into the lives of so many families and visitors. It has been the backdrop for camping trips, fishing tournaments, ski shows, boat rides, fireworks, eagle sightings, and unforgettable summer weekends. While the lake has changed and grown over the decades, the original vision remains the same: a community water source and a place for people to gather, enjoy the outdoors, and create lasting memories together.

Thank you to everyone, past and present, who has helped care for and support Lake Lou Yaeger through the years. We are proud to continue building on Mayor Yaeger’s vision and preserving this special place for future generations. Here’s to 60 years of Lake Lou Yaeger and many more sunrises on the water ahead.
