Another great thing to get out of the house to learn and have fun!!

⛏️ Get ready to dig into the past! 🏺

Archaeology Day is back at the Museum of the Plains on Saturday, October 10! 🌞

Kids will get hands-on with history as they make clay pinch pots, try their hand at throwing an atlatl, dig for artifacts, play a traditional Native American game, and create their own calendar.

It’s one of our favorite events and a great way for kids to learn about the past while having fun!

When Rachel decides to reorganize the whole room 🤦‍♀️. Sometimes you have to make a mess to get it cleaned up! This is our lobby/gift shop area--yes, we have a gift shop!!!--and hopefully we will also have some comfy new seating soon, so make plans to check it all out! Next week we will video tour our new set-up!

So thankful for rain and taking down that Burn Ban flag outside the museum!

The Burn Ban has been rescinded for Lipscomb County. What a blessing the rain has been the last few days!

Important info!!! Learn about how new items get added to our collection!

Also, the museum will be pausing acceptance of new items starting October 16 at 3 pm through the end of the year! We love all of the things but need a bit of time to catch up before a new year begins! Watch this video to learn about the process each item in our collection goes through to get from your hands to our display cases. Please holler at us with any questions!

We had the best time this morning carving a pumpkin! 🎃 We know it is a little early but this was a great sensory project to see what all is inside a pumpkin.

We read a great book on how to carve a pumpkin and then the kids washed and dried the outside, patiently waited while a grown-up cut off the top, and then diligently removed all of the seeds! They were some hard workers! Now we have a fun new friend to greet guests here at the museum!
