From saving a single, neglected 1810 stone house to being voted “BEST MUSEUM” in the Valley Breeze 2026 Community Awards, the all volunteer, nonprofit Friends of Hearthside has come a long way. Today, the Great Road Heritage Campus proudly protects four historic sites: Hearthside House, Pullen’s Corner School House, Hannaway Blacksmith Shop, and Moffett Mill.

To commemorate this quarter century milestone, we are hosting our Silver Jubilee Gala, and we want our incredible community to celebrate with us!

Monroe, Cabinet Keeper & Library Collection Manager at the RI Historical Society and Great Road Heritage Campus Weaving Instructor, will share expert advice on how to care for your family treasures. You will also see a hands-on demonstration on how to safely clean and store textiles so they last for generations!

Sunday, August 16, 2026 1-4 PM

We the People: Explore the Founding of our Nation & Great Rd.

We’re still reflecting on the dramatic reading that brought Rhode Island’s own Revolutionary War hero, Silas Talbot, back to life this past August 1, at Hearthside House Museum in Lincoln, RI!

Watching the spirited, in-character exchange between Silas and his granddaughter-in-law Charlotte under the tent was a powerful way to step back into the high-stakes world of Revolutionary American naval warfare. History is full of complex realities, yet the drama beautifully and honestly touched on heavy contradictions of slave ownership to later generations making the courageous choice to stand against the China o***m trade.

It was so meaningful to have the Talbot family with us, and to honor the legacy of supporter Bill Talbot, with a red maple tree planting.

History is so much more than dates on a page when it's told with this much heart, moxie, and local pride. Grateful to everyone at Hearthside House for putting together such a thought-provoking, yet fun afternoon!

❤️Step into the world of Charlotte and Silas Talbot tomorrow, August 1st at Hearthside House for a newly released dramatic reading celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary. Through lively historical storytelling, discover some of the Talbot family’s most high stakes missions and the extraordinary Rhode Islanders behind them.

🤍From the explosive world of early American naval warfare, to the complex and controversial realities of slavery, to the Talbot family’s impactful response to the o***m trade in China, these true stories reveal a family whose lives were shaped by courage, conviction, and difficult choices.
