🎨 Time Machine Tuesday: Georgia O’Keeffe

Today we’re taking a virtual field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to spend some time with the artwork and world of Georgia O’Keeffe.

O’Keeffe looked closely at flowers, trees, landscapes, and the shapes found in nature. By enlarging, simplifying, and rearranging what she observed, she helped people see familiar subjects in a completely new way.

These photographs offer a glimpse of the museum visit—from her large, flowing paintings to the natural objects and surroundings that inspired her work.

Looking at accomplished artists like Georgia O’Keeffe reminds us that artists do more than copy what they see.

They make choices about shape, color, scale, composition, and what they want us to notice.

What ordinary object from nature would you choose to look at more closely?

Grab your sketchbook and try looking at something from nature in a new way.

Adults can also join us for Adult Open Studio on Wednesdays or Saturday afternoons. Check the website for current availability, and hope to see you soon at the studio!

Fri-Yay from Art Studio 760 🎨☀️

With the weather feeling so hot and bright, this little painting sketch felt just right.

I was looking back at some photos from my portfolio and found this piece that captured the heat of the day.

A technique I use to help create a warm feeling in a painting is starting with a colorful underpainting. Instead of beginning on a plain white canvas, I first give the surface a coat of color. In this painting sketch, I used bright orange underneath, which helped the whole piece feel warmer, brighter, and full of energy. Warm pinks, oranges, bright greens, and glowing reflections can help show the temperature, the light, and even the feeling of a place.

That is one of the wonderful things about painting — color can carry the story, the weather, and the feeling of the moment.

Stay cool and have a creative weekend.

Time Machine Tuesday at Art Studio 760 🎨

Today we’re taking a little trip through art history with sculptor Daniel Chester French, best known for creating the seated Abraham Lincoln sculpture at the Lincoln Memorial.

This photo was taken during a visit to Daniel Chester French’s studio in Stockbridge, Massachusetts — a wonderful field trip destination for anyone interested in art history, sculpture, and the creative process.

The exhibit shows a wonderful look at the sculptural process — from a small clay model, to a plaster mold, to the final cast. It is a great reminder that artists work in steps. They sketch, plan, build, revise, and problem-solve along the way.

Art history is not just about finished masterpieces. It is also about the studio process, the materials, the experiments, and the many stages that happen before the final artwork is complete.

At ArtStudio760.com we love helping students understand that the process is part of the art.

Summertime at Art Studio 760 🎨☀️

Summer is a great time to slow down, try something new, and build real art skills in a relaxed studio setting.

Students explore painting, drawing, color mixing, composition, brushwork, and creative decision-making — all while working on projects that feel fun, personal, and full of imagination.

At Art Studio 760, we love helping young artists learn new techniques, gain confidence, and discover how many different ways there are to create.

Summer art days are available by the day, so families can choose the dates that work best for their schedule.

Happy Fri-Yay from Art Studio 760! 🎨🦔

Here’s to ending the week with color, creativity, and maybe even a little hedgehog-level enthusiasm.

A cozy studio, a tiny easel, a happy hedgehog, and a paintbrush ready to go — that sounds like a pretty good way to head into the weekend.

At Art Studio 760, creative time can look different for everyone. It might be a drawing class, a painting project, a relaxed adult open studio, a birthday celebration, or a creative night out with friends.

Happy Fri-Yay from Art Studio 760!

Do you know a child who is always drawing, painting, building, designing, or making something?

At Art Studio 760, we make it easy to include art in your child’s weekly schedule — just like music lessons, dance, karate, or sports.

Kids and teens have time to slow down, practice new skills, and develop their own creative voice. Classes are small, flexible, and welcoming, with individual guidance along the way.

Students can explore drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and creative projects at their own pace.

If your child is always sketching, making, designing, or asking for more art time, a weekly class can be a great way to support that interest.
