A full room and a full week ahead: educators from across the country have gathered for the June 2026 George C. Marshall Teachers Institute to explore Marshall’s leadership and the early Cold War! The institute continues through Thursday, with the second session in July.

We are delighted that teachers from across the country and the world will be joining us this summer for the 2026 George C. Marshall Teachers Institutes! Secondary teachers from Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and the Federated States of Micronesia will spend four days at the Marshall Foundation Research Library learning more about Marshall and his role in the early Cold War.

What happened to zoo animals during World War II? Join us at the George C. Marshall Foundation for a talk by historian Dr. John M. Kinder on "World War Zoos", recently awarded the 2026 Society for Military History Distinguished Book Award.

Among the book’s most unexpected stories is that of a petting zoo created by Japanese American internees at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in Wyoming. The camp’s main “zookeeper” later went on to help liberate Dachau.

Free and open to the public. Book signing and vegetarian reception to follow.
