An old Lewistown Hotel: Valley House at the corner of E Market and N Dorcas Streets. Property ownership identified in 1877 Atlas as J Breneman. Recognized as a hotel in 1885 - 1910 Sanborn maps. The 1907 directory lists Mrs. S. Breneman, widow of Jacob, Proprietor.

Colonial landmark: "The Oaks" outside of Belleville facing Jacks Mountain, home of James Alexander, Sr on land warranted in 1755. It is the original homestead built of logs in 1765. It was later expanded to have a stone addition. Picture taken in the 1960s, the stone was covered in stucco.
