Because of his steadfast faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we celebrate the homegoing of Mr. Jimmy Hughes to his heavenly home. Through his remarkable influence on Muscle Shoals music, Jimmy brought recognition not only to himself, but also to his cherished hometown of Leighton. A talented singer and songwriter, he traveled widely sharing the music he loved to create. In his later years, he returned home to Leighton, where he embraced each day as a blessing from God and shared his optimism with everyone around him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.
Arrangements will be with Thompson and Son Funeral Home.

It is with much gratitude for his passion of preserving history, that we dedicate a video of a few stories told by Jimmy King. Jimmy passed away on Monday at the age of 92.
The Leighton Museum, founded by the King family, began in 1954 and was relocated to Bank Independent in Leighton in 2016. This state of the art museum includes a case dedicated to Jimmy with relics dating back to the 1700’s. There is also a classic video featuring Jimmy and others telling the stories of Leighton.
We are thankful that his stories will live on for generations to come!
