Great time at the Gales Ferry District Meet and Greet! We brought out the bicentennial treats for all to look through!
Thankfully we were able to move into the Community Center before the rain!

Due to the weather we are going to scale back and move to the air conditioned indoors. We will still have some crafting tables setup, the bake sale and tables for the colonial coin exhibition and the Ledyard Garden Club!

There will be plenty of water and freezer pops to go along with our splash station that will be set up in the field so bring a towel if you’d like to cool off in the water!

Join us from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 4th for this FREE 4th of July Celebration, hosted by the Ledyard Historical Society and the Ledyard Historic District Commission.
The event will include the Ledyard Garden Club, Colonial Coin & Currency, a Scavenger Hunt, Colonial and Modern Lawn Games, Craft Stations, and more.
Snacks, refreshments, and baked goods will be available for purchase, or bring a picnic! Alcohol not permitted.
Donations welcome.

Join us for a fun day at the Lester House! I'm looking forward to walking the trails again! - Andrea

I'll be leading the hike! After the concert, we will also be hosting a free potluck 🥘 (bring a dish to share!) and the Society's annual meeting. Everyone is welcome to all of the events. I can also give you a quick tour inside the museum!

Who doesn't love music, the outdoors and some history? We're partnering with Sustain Music & Nature to put on a Trail Session hike and concert on June 27. This Trail Session will highlight the beautiful grounds and historical sights at the Nathan Lester House and Farm Tool Museum, a partnership between the Ledyard Historical Society and the Ledyard Historic District Commission. Folk/Soul/R&B artist Kimaya Diggs will perform following the guided hike. Diggs was nominated in the "Best New Artist" and "Album of the Year" categories at the 2023 New England Music Awards and was recently honored as one of 10 artists of color making a difference in the Boston area by WBUR. She has opened for the likes of Trombone Shorty, Lizzie No, Tank and The Bangas, and has toured with Heather Maloney. The Boston Globe calls her “Expressive, smooth vocals…she’s kind of an unstoppable force.”

Hike at 10am, concert at 11am. $10 suggested adult sliding scale tickets, but you can reserve tickets for free too. Kids are welcome. Trail Sessions introduce people to their parks and great music. More details: https://www.sustainmusicandnature.org/june272026

Looking back to the nation's Bicentennial with a community sourced exhibit at the Nathan Lester House this summer. 🇺🇸
Do you have items to loan to the Historical Society from the 1970s? We're looking for everyday objects, such as:
clothing (including uniforms, wedding or formal attire),️ toys & games, records, pictures, momentos & memorabilia, cookbooks & books, scrapbooks, quilts, Bicentennial costumes - anything invoking the time!
