The p'squosa (Wenatchi) are the original stewards of the Upper Valley, and their story is at the heart of our "We Are Still Here" exhibit. Their descendants are part of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, where the Kaiser Canyon Fire has already destroyed homes and displaced over 1,000 people.

We know first hand how devastating fire can be for a community. Here's a chance to show up for them in a real way, and make history happen in real time.

The Greater Leavenworth Museum is proud to participate in Out of Many, One, Washington State’s America 250 project. Working with residents across the Upper Valley communities—Peshastin, Dryden, Plain, Stevens Pass/Merritt, Blewett, Lake Wenatchee, and Leavenworth—we selected unique objects from our collection and community loans to create two special exhibits reflecting our community’s unique American story.

Visit the Greater Leavenworth Museum and the Leavenworth Town Hall to see these special exhibits throughout July.

Juneteenth invites us to reflect on one of the most important milestones in American history — the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, communities across the country honor this moment as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing work of building a more just and inclusive nation.

At the Greater Leavenworth Museum, we recognize Juneteenth as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the diverse stories that shape the American experience. We encourage our members to take time to learn, listen, and engage — whether by exploring Black history, attending a community event, supporting Black‑led organizations, or simply reflecting on what freedom has meant across generations.

Juneteenth reminds us that history is not only something we preserve — it is something we continue to shape together.

For more than a decade, the Upper Valley Historical Society Spring Tea has been a cherished community tradition. Though the seasons, venues, and decorations have changed over the years, one thing has remained constant- the joy of gathering together to share tea, treats, stories, and a love for local history.

We’re excited to continue that tradition this Sunday, the 31st, at the United Methodist Church. Tickets are still available, and we’d love to see you there as we celebrate another wonderful Spring Tea together!
