ππΎ THROWBACK to the very first business I ever started! πΆπ
Meet Travelin' Dog, Inc. and my brilliant little invention, Yippee Sticks! π The convenient treat for dogs on the go!
This wasn't just a business I started. This was a business I built from the ground up, from an idea in my head to an actual product on store shelves!
From developing the concept, sourcing ingredients and a manufacturing plant, designing the logo, packaging, website, and marketing materials, to incorporating my company and raising over $200,000 through private stock sales and one hell of a business plan.
At just 28 years old, I learned SO MUCH building this company. Product development, manufacturing, distribution, fundraising, sales, branding... you name it, I figured it out WAY before camera phones, editing apps or AI.
And you know what? I managed to get my dog treats into over 1,100 7-Eleven stores nationwide! π€―π All just by making phone calls and faxing order forms to stores. Crazy..
Unfortunately, the timing wasn't ideal, and little did I know, my life was about to take an unbelievable turn for the worse just 5 short years into this venture. Sometimes life has plans for us that we could never possibly anticipate.
But looking back at these pictures, I don't see a business that didn't make it. I see an incredible idea, a whole lot of determination, and a young entrepreneur who wasn't afraid to take a chance on herself.
And for the record, I STILL think Yippee Sticks were a FANTASTIC idea!! ππ‘ I genuinely wish they were still around today!
It's funny how life works. That first business was the beginning of an entrepreneurial journey that would take me in directions I never could have imagined.
Moral of the story? Just because something doesn't last forever doesn't mean it wasn't a success. Sometimes the experience, the lessons, and the confidence you gain are worth more than you realize at the time. πΎβ€οΈ
