Bloom Boom : Group Exhibition | Opening April 24th | Final Fridays after hours at 812 Mass. See you when the sun goes down!

Featuring works by Clare Doveton, Alycia Kelly, Jesse Gray, Javy Ortiz, Jeremy Rockwell, Shawn Engler, Matt Ridgway, Dalton Paley, Louis Copt, Wayne Propst, Jeromy Morris, Leah Tacha, Ryan Storck, Aaron Morgan Brown…

Bloom Boom brings together a group of artists responding to the tension between growth and destruction, beauty and impermanence. This pop-up exhibition explores how spring’s annual return feels different against a backdrop of ongoing conflict and uncertainty... flowers pushing up through cracked ground, color insisting on itself even when the world feels heavy. Each artist in the exhibition brings their own interpretation, and that multiplicity is the point. There is no single answer to what it means to bloom in difficult times, and no wrong one either. The works on view span a range of mediums and perspectives, inviting viewers to sit with the question rather than settle on a conclusion.

“TAXIARCH” Works by Ryan Storck opening at SeedCo Studios 10/31 at 5:00pm.

Ryan Storck 35 years old
Also known by his non de plume “AURXCHS”
Is an Outsider Artist with no formal degree
Born in New York City raised in the upper west side until moving to Lawrence, KS as a teenager in 2005. Allegedly did some graffiti growing up. Taken to the MET by his mother in his youth more times than he can count.
Has been making acrylic paintings on canvas and wood panel in Lawrence KS since 2009. The work humbly attempts to tackle with the timeless subject matters of life, death, divinity hedonism, pain, the cyclical and paradoxical nature of the world, humor and occasionally the macabre. This subject matter is usually conveyed through imagery of the western cannon, with his major inspirations being the work of illuminated manuscripts from the early Middle Ages, the work of the Italian masters specifically Michelangelo Buonarroti, as well as northern masters such as Peter Paul Rubins and Bruegel. His penchant for mark making with the brush or pen is heavily inspired by the hasty movement employed by John Singer Sargent and the sketches of sculptor Alberto Giacometti while using a contemporary highly saturated color pallet that was unavailable to these classical influences. The use of solid blocks of color, decisive mark making drawing from late 90’s and early 2000’s graffiti scene in New York City. Ryan attempts to make the imagery in his work something that is largely up to the interpretation of the viewer while some aspects of this piece or that piece mean something specific to Ryan in one aspect or another, he ultimately is not definite on the precise meaning of each piece lest the viewer not be able to connect with it in their own private way.

Since taking the alias “AURXCHS” in 2017 Ryan
Works at an almost exclusively larger scale.
And his latest Painting “A Bad Day for Relativism” depicts St Michael behind St George as the latter steels himself at the moment of choosing to charge at the Dragon. The painting shall not be quantified further with any jargon. To quote the late great David Lynch “No”
