Verko’s Spotlight - Today’s spotlighted piece in the Vault collection is this Terminator diorama, painted by Robert Karlsson, aka Rogland Studio, and sculpted by Peter Müller.

This original sculpt at approximately 90mm scale brings Dave Gallagher's iconic "Space Marine Donning Terminator Armour" directly into three dimensions. The scene depicts the sacred ritual of encasing a warrior in Terminator plate, surrounded by chapter serfs, mechanized skulls, and hooded attendants who exist for that single act of service.

The crimson armor is the only saturated note in the entire composition. Everything else, robes, cables, attendants, mechanical debris, is pushed toward warm black and desaturated grey-brown. Your eye returns to that central figure every time, no matter how deep into the surrounding detail you go. This is incredible control of visual hierarchy through color.

The relief format raises the difficulty considerably. Light falls consistently across the entire composition rather than treating each element in isolation, and it reads as a single scene rather than a collection of painted parts. Dense, solemn, and completely uncompromising.

The sculpt itself deserves equal credit: the density of overlapping figures, cables, and mechanical detail compressed into a relief format without ever becoming visually incoherent is a serious technical achievement.

We’re proud to officially announce the Verko’s Vault Open, taking place February 5–7, 2027 at Verko’s Vault: Museum of Fantasy Miniatures in Las Vegas!

This event is part of a growing collaboration with Kontrast - Festiwal Malarstwa Figurkowego in Poland and Monte San Savino Show in Italy, two of the most respected competitions in the miniature art world. Together, we’re helping build a circuit of events that share a similar vision and passion for the hobby, and we believe this is only the beginning.

Our competition will use an open judging system, where entries are evaluated on their own artistic merit and craftsmanship rather than directly against one another. The ruleset follows the same standards used at Monte and Kontrast, with judging that is thoughtful, thorough, and taken seriously. At the same time, we want this to be an event that welcomes artists of all experience levels. Whether you’ve been painting for two years or twenty, your work will receive a fair and honest evaluation. Fantasy, historical, and sci-fi entries are all welcome.

Our long-term goal is simple: to grow the Verko’s Vault Open into one of the premier miniature art events on the West Coast, and eventually beyond.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will also be able to take workshops from internationally renowned artists, explore the Verko’s Vault museum collection, and visit our retail store.

We hope to see you there!

Further details, registration information, and workshop announcements will be coming soon.

Verko’s Spotlight - Today’s featured piece in the collection is “Mater Matuta,” painted by Marc Masclans Miniatures , sculpted by Leila Khalili, and based on the oil painting by Roberto Ferri .

Marc Masclans and Leila Khalili took on one of the most demanding source materials possible: Roberto Ferri, the Italian painter whose work sits at the intersection of Baroque classicism and visceral surrealism.

Leila sculpted this unique copy from Ferri's Mater Matuta canvas, expanding the composition downward to give it a proper base to breathe on. Marc then painted it with a clear goal: stay true to Ferri's style while shifting the color palette and the brushstrokes enough to make it a genuine reinterpretation rather than a straight copy.

That's a difficult line to walk, and Marc found the balance. What makes his approach particularly distinctive is his technique of working acrylics almost like watercolors, building up the image through overlapping transparent stains rather than opaque layers. It gives the skin tones that luminous, almost organic quality you see across all the figures here.

Even the plinth, with its dark marbled tones and ember-like warm spots, ties everything together and grounds what is otherwise a deeply unsettling and beautiful composition. A fan art, yes. But the kind that stands entirely on its own.

Verko’s Spotlight - Today’s featured piece in the Vault collection is “Window to the Stars #6,” painted and created by Roman Lappat - Miniature Art , featuring his signature Astronaut sculpted by Momo .

Roman is a powerhouse of creative storytelling, best reflected in his recurring tiny explorers. Across his Astronaut series, each piece varies in scale, mood, and narrative, yet consistently invites the viewer into moments of wonder.

The core concept is genuinely clever: a massive explosion of nebula-like energy contained within a viewport, and at the very bottom, nearly invisible, a tiny astronaut in turquoise just... standing there watching it. That scale contrast does enormous narrative work, making the viewer feel the insignificance of the human figure against cosmic forces without spelling anything out.

The industrial black casing with its mechanical details and indicator lights is critical to this. Without it, this is an interesting abstract painting. With it, it becomes a diorama with a story. The frame contextualizes the chaos and gives the astronaut something to stand in front of.

Technically, the background painting is exceptional. The transition from deep red through orange into acid yellow-green has real luminosity, reading as genuinely backlit. The splatter and pour textures create organic chaos that feels deliberately uncontrolled, reinforcing the whole "raw energy" concept.

Verko’s Spotlight - Today’s spotlighted piece in the Vault collection is Necromancer Dragon, painted by KAHA Katarzyna Górska , produced by Creature Caster , and sculpted by Miguel Leonardo Art.

What would a fantasy museum be without dragons? We have many stunning ones in the collection, and today we wish to highlight this dragon painted by the incomparable Kaha.

This piece is a showcase of Kaha’s otherworldly use of color and textures. Bold transitions between turquoise, violet, crimson, and yellow tones create an almost alien feel, giving the dragon a powerful presence that is simultaneously beautiful and unsettling. The change in colors on the wings feel realistic and plausible, and the light temperature shift between the top of the wings and the rest of the dragon is a masterclass in itself.

On top of that are her signature freehand patterns and textures across the wings and body that add depth, movement, and an extra layer of complexity that is almost impossible to replicate. The attention to detail is incredible and fascinating.

Verko’s Spotlight - Today’s featured piece in the Vault museum collection is “Crypt of the Undead,” painted by Arnau Lazaro Miniatures for FER Miniatures, and sculpted by Pedro Fernandez.

What makes this piece stand out is that everything is firing at once, pulling you inside the scene. The OSL from the lantern hits the coat, stone, and skin differently: each material reads as its own separate element rather than everything collapsing into one orange wash. The amber color projected on the stone and the "white" robe of the dead vampire is incredibly convincing and very hard to nail.

Then on the opposite side, a cool teal is signaling the exit of the crypt into the night and holds its own against the warm light without the two sources bleeding into each other. The vampire's drapery alone is worth studying for the interaction of the two different lights. And the narrative packs three focal points into one scene without feeling crowded. A lot happening, nothing wasted.
