I’ll be at this event on June 27, 2026, for my mural unveiling.

Join us for Celebrate Sparks! — a free, family-friendly celebration and mural unveiling to honor the history and community spirit of the City of Sparks.

As part of America 250 initiative, this event will include the big reveal of a new mural inside the Tony Armstrong Amphitheater by Ely-based artist Jamie Vincek! We’ll hear from the artist about what inspired the mural, enjoy live music, local vendors, food trucks, Great Basin beer, and free historical tours provided by the Sparks Heritage Museum.

Ely-based artist Jamie Vincek sent us this photo portrait of herself after it was announced she was selected to create a new mural inside the Tony Armstrong Amphitheater on Victorian Avenue in Sparks.

"Vincek is a painter and mural artist with a background in illustration and large-scale public art. She has spent more than 15 years developing a visual practice rooted in storytelling, color exploration and public engagement," a City of Sparks statement from today indicates.

"Her work reflects a blend of traditional techniques and contemporary style, incorporating elements of abstraction, stylized realism and trompe l’oeil — a technique that uses realistic imagery to create the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. The mural will honor the city’s heritage and highlight Sparks’ role in shaping the American West.

“We are excited to have selected Jamie Vincek to paint a new mural inside the Tony Armstrong Amphitheater,” Special Events Supervisor Raquel Monserrat is quoted as saying. “Her design beautifully reflects the rich history of the City of Sparks and serves as a meaningful celebration of Sparks’ history.”

"The community is invited to attend the official mural unveiling during the Celebrate Sparks event on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Tony Armstrong Amphitheater. The celebration will include live music, food trucks, local vendors and guided history tours in partnership with the Sparks Heritage Museum.

The Celebrate Sparks event and mural project is funded by Travel Nevada in conjunction with the America 250 initiative."

A stallion rendered in deep hues of blue, embodies the raw feeling of instinct and freedom, while the glow suggests a portal of change. The contrast between the dark horse and the warm radiant background emphasizes the transformation of time. Movement is central to my painting as it captures a moment the feels eternal, as if the horse is breaking through time itself.

This piece will be showcased at the 2026 Lunar New Year Exhibition: Year of the Horse.
