So much work goes into a piece like this!
130 glass wisteria blossoms, each composed of many pieces of glass, fired on a single use texture mold.
The custom stainless steel frame weighs 400 pounds and required over 40 hours of welding and polishing. It’s headed for a beautiful oceanfront home in Myrtle Beach.

From design to ex*****on in two months!
The new piece is for Sparrow Hospital here in my hometown of Lansing Michigan. One of my larger pieces, this is a little over 16 feet in length.
Each leaf made on a custom, single use texture mold, each flower three days in the making. This was truly a labor of love.
What a blessing to have the ability to envision a piece in my head and have all the tools necessary to make it real!
Our first sculpture done in collaboration with Peter Hauxwell, as part of our new company, Pragma Designs / Craig Mitchell Smith. With Studios in Michigan and Palm Springs, California, we hope to branch out with new work, including a line of custom lighting in the next year. We will be filming our own tutorials and teaching in the California studio as soon as we can.
We love the name, Pragma Designs!
Pragma is the love of shared work, and the root word of pragmatic. How fitting for this work obsessed artist!

I am so excited with his partnership with my friend and Photographer, Rick Stringer. He’s traveled across America with me shooting the work in beautiful locations. You’d be amazed how much time we have spent together, chasing light. He travels with me to my shows, and takes my Glass on field trips just to capture the best moments.
