Lanesboro Historical Museum

Lanesboro Historical Museum The museum is dedicated to telling Lanesboro’s story by collecting, organizing, preserving and displaying our historical and genealogical artifacts.

Lanesboro is a booming town, full of visitors year round and events that encourage creativity. The museum collects and protects the history of Lanesboro residents. Visit our museum through the spring, summer, and fall - or look here for photographs and memories of the special people of Lanesboro. Our page will also keep you up to date on events and happenings at the museum. This is the official Fa

cebook page of the Museum - feel free to ask any historical questions, and they will be answered by an expert. We are also here to provide research for families seeking genealogical information. This page is authorized and supported by the Lanesboro Historic Preservation Association. LHPA’s electronic postings of photographs from its own collection does not constitute permission to reproduce or distribute those photographs without application to LHPA in accordance with the photography policy.

I've named this "Little Boy In Color". It may be a Bue photo but it's not signed or stamped with his studio name. It's such a wonderful portrait. I hope someone can identify him.

We have another photo mystery. Can anyone identify these two?

This photo was taken by Mathias Bue when he and his wife, Suzie, visited Norway in 1921. We recently had 120 photographs scanned so we now have a digital record of them. Mr. Bue had mounted the large-format photos on linen and bound them in a beautiful leather scrapbook. Do you know what the woman in the photo is preparing to cook?

The family of Roger & Helen Benson graciously donated a collection of Lanesboro memorabilia to the museum. Pictured next to the Benson display are Deane Benson, Aimee Stettler, Bryan Benson, Lisa Benson and Lynne Tollefson, children of Roger & Helen. The items gifted represent the love that Helen and Roger had for their community of Lanesboro. Many thanks to the Benson Family!
