Tucked inside our South Parlor is this beautiful English inlaid mahogany piano forte, crafted by Muzio Clementi & Company in Cheapside England circa 1815–1820.

Muzio Clementi, often called the “father of the piano forte,” was a celebrated composer, performer, conductor, and innovator whose influence shaped the way music was played for generations.

With its elegant design and rich history, this piece offers a glimpse into the musical moments that once filled homes like the Reese–Peters House nearly 200 years ago.

Next time you visit, take a stroll through the first floor and see what other stories you can discover. 👀✨

It truly takes a community ✨

As “Heartland: The Stories of Ohio Through 250 Objects” comes to a close, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible lenders who made this exhibition possible.

These photos capture something special—donors standing alongside the very objects they generously shared. Each piece carried its own story, and together, they helped bring Ohio’s history to life in a meaningful and personal way.

Your willingness to open your collections and trust us with these objects allowed thousands of visitors to connect with the people, places, and moments that define our state.

We are so grateful for your support, your partnership, and your role in making Heartland such a memorable exhibition.

That’s a wrap on “Heartland: The Stories of Ohio Through 250 Objects.”

Yesterday marked the closing of this remarkable exhibition at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio, where 250 objects came together to tell the story of Ohio’s people, ideas, and defining moments.

We are deeply grateful to curators Andrew Richmond and Hollie Davis for their vision, expertise, and passion in bringing this exhibition to life. Their thoughtful selection of objects—from handcrafted works and industrial innovations to personal mementos—offered visitors a meaningful and memorable look at Ohio’s history and cultural impact.

A sincere thank you to our partners and supporters, including the Fox Foundation, Mahon Design, and Meander Auctions, as well as the many lenders, contributors, and visitors who made this exhibition possible.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who walked through the galleries, shared their stories, and connected with Heartland. It was an honor to explore Ohio’s past—and present—with you.

Stay tuned… there’s more to come.
