Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German rural community from 1740 to 1940 and enhances understanding of their successful practices, interactions with others, and the impact on the state and nation for citizens of and visitors to the Commonwealth. The museum's richly layered story is the history of an early Pennsylvania German settlement, an unusual farm family, and the ongoing creation and exploration of a wonderfully diverse collection of artifacts. When brothers Henry Kinzer Landis (1865-1955) and George Diller Landis (1867 - 1954) opened the museum in 1925 at their Landis Valley residence, the area had been a small Pennsylvania German settlement since the mid 1800s. Expanded to its current size, we now invite visitors to experience 18th and 19th century village and farm life in Lancaster County, Pa, all in one visit. With over 100 acres and many historic buildings to explore throughout the four seasons, there's always something to see at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.

Thank you to everyone who visited, demonstrated, and helped out last weekend for our annual Harvest Days! We wanted to give a couple of special shout-outs for their help over Harvest Days weekend:

When we discovered a flat tire while setting up the tractor-drawn wagon rides, was able to fix it and make sure everyone still got to enjoy a ride around the village!

JC Snavely & Sons was also kind enough to donate wood to help repair a gate that had seen much better days. Special thanks to one of our volunteers, Dennis, for putting in the work to fix it!

This December, young historians ages 5–11 can step back in time for a hands-on morning at Landis Valley. Participants will gather around the warmth of the fire, prepare authentic colonial recipes from the Middle, New England, and Southern Colonies, and try their hand at two colonial-era crafts.

And of course, they’ll get to enjoy the best part of all: a holiday meal featuring the foods they helped prepare!

Winter Day Camp is Saturday, December 19, from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM. Registration includes the class and all materials, but space is limited to just 15 participants, so reservations are required. Reserve your child’s spot today!

Farmer Friday: Harvest Days 2026
Harvest Days is one of the biggest weekends of the year for the Farm Program. There’s a lot of work that goes into getting the site ready, and it takes everyone pitching in to make it happen. This year was no different!

The farm team put out firewood for the fires, set up photo-op displays, repaired and built fencing, helped unload apples and c***r, and got the barns and animals looking their best. And of course, we MOOOOOved in a special guest for the weekend!

Looking for a creative way to ease into the holiday season? Join us for a hands-on workshop in the traditional art of tatting!

Learn how this delicate form of lace-making was once used to embellish clothing, linens, and personal items, then put those techniques to work as you create your own tree-shaped holiday ornament, complete with decorative threadwork and bells.

No matter your experience level, you’ll have the chance to learn from an experienced tatter, practice traditional techniques, and leave with a handmade ornament of your own.

Thank you everyone for a wonderful first day of our Harvest Days event! 🍁

Day two of Harvest Days will be held rain or shine tomorrow, Sunday October 11th! We'll be open 9am-4pm. Demonstrations and activities will be moved indoors or under cover. Bring your umbrella and join us for another fun-filled day! 🍂
