It is with Great Sadness we announce the Passing of Douglas “Doug” Hinson. Doug was an Employee with Lancaster and Chester Railway and later Lancaster and Chester Railroad for 28 years as a Track inspector primarily but as common with shortline railroads Doug was also a Car inspector , Mechanic and the a Grass Cutter . Doug helped with building and moving and clean out stuff when the museum was started. Doug also found and saved items from scrap and some items are on display as well as some of his old tools. In later years He was a frequent visitor to the museum. Doug was an outdoorsman he loved to cut grass and take care of his chickens. Doug will be Greatly Missed.

How about shots from the miniature L&C Railway that used to run at the old Springs Park on Hwy. 200 in Lancaster near the Nitrolee Dam? Col. Elliott White Springs is second from left in the third and fourth photographs. He ran the Springs Textile Mills at the time these shots were made in the 1950s. He was also a famed bomber pilot during World War 1. He was known to love the L&C, both the Springs Park version and the 29 mile 1:1 scale version.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mr. Wayne Black. Wayne was a railroad man with 43 years of service between Seaboard Coast Line and CSX. Wayne was well loved by his friends and adopted family. He was a wealth of knowledge and loved the Lord. He was member of our museum. He was always ready to help someone in need. He will be greatly missed!

It is a sad day for the L&C Museum. We lost another member Mr. James, he was loved by many and his knowledge and love of Trains was infectious. We love when Mr. James would come help on the Saturdays that the Museum was open. We will miss him dearly. Ride those golden rails and RIP.
