"Jerome Hershey: Rhythms and Reactions" & "One Plus One Equals Infinity", featuring the work of Mike Witmer, open with a public reception during First Friday! Join us on May 1 from 5 - 8 pm at the Lancaster Museum of Art to view these two special exhibitions.
"Jerome Hershey: Rhythms and Reactions" features selected Breath and Spin series paintings completed over the last four years by Lancaster-based artist Jerome Hershey. These abstract compositions are meticulously layered with color and rhythmic patterns to reflect Hershey's personal experiences and desire to pursue the greater good. Hershey has actively painted in his downtown studio and exhibited in Lancaster and beyond since 1972.
"One Plus One Equals Infinity" features the minimalist work of Mike Witmer, emphasizing the interplay of color and light. Featuring recent work by the artist, this exhibition invites you to contemplate the subtlety of the canvas’ surface as it interacts with the existing light and shadow in the room. Inspired by Josef Albers, Witmer’s paint application and manipulation of the physical structure of the canvas examines the notions of color theory.
