Thank you Lancaster County Christian School for participating in Lancaster County Young Artists and the Scholastic Art Awards this year! congratulations to the winners!

Congratulations are in order for the following LCCS students, Kelly Robinson, Amber Millen, and Amanda Evernham, for receiving awards in the Lancaster County Young Artist Exhibition, which is being held at the Lancaster Museum of Art through April 14th.

The Lancaster County Young Artists Exhibition was founded to recognize the talented young artists in grades 7 through 12 in the schools of Lancaster County. Over 1000 entries are submitted, judged, and then only a select few receive awards.

Each year LCCS submits artwork into the competition. This year Kelly Robinson received a Silver Award for a very exquisite wheel thrown piece of pottery, Amber Millen received an Honorable Mention for her intricate mixed media portrait of Arella Shea, and Amanda Evernham received a Silver Award for her complex design in a coil ceramic piece.

All Art Work is currently on display at the Lancaster Museum of Art at 135 N. Lime Street in Lancaster City through April 14th.

When asked what her favorite exhibition she has ever worked on, her answer was, 'Warren Rohrer: Painter of the Fields.' “It was such a great experience delving into an exhibition and having a hand in almost every part of it. From organizing the incoming loans and traveling to pick up the work, to assisting with the catalog we published for the exhibition, I learned a lot not only about Rohrer, but what it takes to put on a great exhibition."

Demuth sent a number of these valentines to friends when he was 11 years old. This one, currently on display at the Demuth Museum, was returned to the sender unopened by Ms. G.L. Ehlin, a neighbor. The note reads:
“If of me you sometimes thin(g)k
Send me back my bow of pink.
If to me your heart is true
Send me back by bow of blue
If you are another girls fellow
Send me back my bow of yellow.
If to me your heart is dead
Send me back my bow of red.”
