Time for one last Look Inside Lakewood.

Abundant thanks to the approximately 150 volunteers, our generous sponsors, and the homeowners who opened their doors to graciously welcome 1,000 attendees during yesterday’s Look Inside Lakewood House Tour. What a wonderful way to spend a (mostly) sunny Sunday, exploring our community’s beautiful architecture. Which was your favorite of the six tour stops? We’d love to hear from you – and we hope you’ll tour again in 2028.

Look Inside Lakewood
This classic Craftsman bungalow is designated as 100% Visitable – a design concept that is slowly taking hold across the country. By definition, a visitable home meets these three requirements:
👉one zero-step entrance
👉doors with 32 inches of clear passage space
👉one bathroom on the main floor you can get into in a wheelchair

Check one, two, three – and more. You won’t find ramps or hold bars or any of the traditional assists. Everything is open to create space and encourage unrestricted mobility. An elevator was installed. Rooms were enlarged, added, or repurposed. Unique spaces that bring the outdoors inside were imagineered. Even with all the customization, the couple integrated the original Craftsman character throughout, from hardwood floors and trim, heritage tiling in bathrooms and more. Most surprising – you can stand outside the house and have no idea what’s going on inside! All
the more reason to take the tour.
