The Museum is open...come and see us!

OPEN! WE are OPEN! Come see us at the Museum. The time to come is on Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00, from June 6 through the end of September. Besides wonderful historical displays of the Lakeview area, we have a new bathroom to show off! Thanks to the support of our friends and community (donations and grants), a new bathroom has been "created" in our backroom space. No more porta-potties! We hope to see you sometime this summer. And, there will be special extended hours during Summerfest Week. We will be open from 10:00 to 5:00 on Friday, June 19 and on Saturday, June 20. Bring any burning questions you may have about your own family history or the history of Lakeview and we will try our best to find answers for you. See you soon!

We had a great fundraiser last month and we want to thank everyone who took part. We have one silent auction item remaining and want to offer it here. This is a basket of LHS Wildcat gear, donated by Boujee on Main (see the picture). The value of the basket is $150. The starting bid is $25.00. It will be up for your bids from today through next Tuesday (June 9). If you would like to make a bid on this basket, post it below. If you win, I will let you know next Wednesday (June 10). Thank you for all of your support for our Lakeview Area Museum!

Well, what a great evening last Friday at the Mashed Potato Bar and Silent Auction in Tamarack Place!!! We want to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser, contributing to the plans to build an addition onto the current Lakeview Area Museum building. The food was great! The company delightful! We were able to share our plans and answer questions. And the auction items encouraged lots of bidding. We estimate that about $3500 was raised! Thank you to our wonderful, generous community!

We have more information about one of our Silent Auction items: the length of an airplane ride, donated by Clark Newell (thanks, Clark!) is for up to an hour in length.

Earlier tonight at the Tamarack District Library, Ric Mixter presented a program about the shipwreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Ric is a shipwreck researcher. He also shared the many dives he has done in the Great Lakes.
He heard about our fundraiser coming this Friday and donated two of his books for the Silent Auction. Thank you, Ric!
