Join us and our two master instructors for this fun filled event! Students will learn how to make Obložené Chlebíčky or Open-Faced Sandwiches—a favorite Czech snack and party treat.

Monica and Marie will show you how they make their favorite chlebíčky. Then they will share suggested flavor parings and recipes.

Students will take a sample of each of the four flavor combinations demonstrated home as well!

Where are your ancestors from?

Are they Czech or Slovak?

Have you ever been surprised when a celebrity shares your heritage?

“Famous Czech- & Slovak-Americans” traveling exhibit from the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library takes a playful look at people in the twentieth century spotlight who have Czech and Slovak roots.

Many are well-known while some others may be more surprising!

This six-panel exhibit features Czech- and Slovak-Americans highlight people from the political realm, sports figures, folks who made major discoveries or accomplishments in science and industry and in the arts and entertainment.

Quiz yourself and see how many names you can come up with before seeing the exhibit.

This exhibit will be on display until November 4, 2026. See you soon!

If you’ve visited Czechia or Slovakia, you may have encountered beautifully decorated slices of bread topped with meats, cheeses, eggs, vegetables, spreads, and pickles. Known as chlebíčky (singular: chlebíček), these colorful open-faced sandwiches have long been a favorite for celebrations, gatherings, and everyday treats.

Part of the fun is the presentation. A good chlebíček isn’t simply a sandwich—it’s a colorful little creation meant to look as tempting as it tastes.

Join us October 24th from 2-4pm to learn how to create your own chlebíčky for your family’s celebrations.
