Quite literally from the archives. 📚📰

The La Habra Historical Museum preserves an extensive collection of La Habra’s newspaper history including original issues of the La Habra Star and later editions of the La Habra Daily Star-Progress.

Pictured here are bound volumes of the La Habra Daily Star-Progress from 1977, preserving months of local news exactly as it was reported nearly 50 years ago.

And these volumes are just a small part of the newspaper collection preserved by the Museum.

Sometimes history isn’t behind glass. Sometimes it’s sitting on a shelf, waiting for someone to turn the page. ❤️

History lives in the memories people share. 🎥

In this short clip from an oral history interview between Lois Lundberg and James Gomez, the conversation turns to Pat Nixon’s funeral, with a personal recollection of attending the service and watching President Nixon and his daughters greet guests afterward.

These firsthand memories bring a personal perspective to the historical record. We’re pleased to share this short preview from the La Habra Historical Museum’s oral history collection.

🍊 From the Archives: A Sea of Citrus

This sweeping 1915 picture shows the citrus groves of Bastanchury Ranch. It looks toward Brea from the Sunny Hills area. Row after row of trees stretched across the landscape during an era when citrus farming shaped the economy and community.

It is remarkable to think how dramatically this view has changed in just over the last 100 years. Does anything in the picture look familiar to you?
