Established in 1972 to bring together people interested in the history and study of the area, by operating an archive and museum.

Since its founding in 1972, the society has been documenting the rich history of two villages, La Grange and La Grange Park, Illinois, by collecting significant photos, artifacts and memorabilia from publications and sources dating back to the early 1900's. The La Grange Area Historical Society archives and records information on the people, homes, schools, churches and businesses in the area. Our primary goal is to make the collection relevant and accessible to present and future generations by digitizing our holdings and partnering with other organizations throughout the village to disseminate information about the community.
