Yesterday was a hard day for many of us at Colgan Air as we learned that one of our former Line Service Technicians, Bryce Jungbluth, passed while on the Line-of-Duty for Eau Claire Fire Rescue. He was 27 years old.
Bryce came to us fresh out of high school looking for a part-time job while he started firefighter training Western Technical College. He was a quick, easy, no-brainer of a hire! Bryce had traits you can't train - initiative, a strong work ethic, positive attitude, team player and compassion for those around him. To this day, we say, "Gosh, we wish we could find another Bryce." But when someone is one-of-a-kind, you can't find a replacement.
It was bittersweet when he moved from La Crosse to begin his firefighting career in North Carolina. We hated to see him go but it was clear this was his calling. We were so proud of all he had already accomplished, and proud of knowing what he would accomplish in the future. Bryce's potential was truly limitless.
We're heartbroken for Bryce's wife, 9-month old son and his loving parents and family. The world lost one of its best way too soon. Colgan Air will never forget Bryce and the impact he had on our business and staff, and everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. We will honor him by dedicating ourselves to serving others and community, just as he did.
The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, Inc. established a fund to support his family.
