Kokomo Art Center is honored to host a special showing of collaborative paintings by Ramona Daniels and Omar Daniels. Stop in and contemplate the beautiful work and the connection between Mother and Son.
Ramona “Mona” Daniels was a native of Philadelphia and moved to Kokomo, Indiana in 2016 by way of New Jersey to pursue her dream as an artist. Ramona’s work centered on painting figurative subjects inspired by her life experiences. Her vivid oil/acrylic paintings revealed emotions inspired by her background and in nature – the serenity of a landscape, the tranquility of the ocean, the boldness of a flower. Mona enjoyed conveying her personal expression through abstraction and her style ranged from impressionism to contemporary painting.
Mona maintained her Artyside studio on the second floor of Artworks Gallery, located in downtown Kokomo. She enjoyed painting in her studio and could often be found chatting and sharing her joy of art with visitors, especially during First Friday events. Mona was a member of the Kokomo Art Association, serving on the Board and as Secretary, and later as Treasurer. She was a regular exhibitor in Artist Alley, an outdoor art gallery open 24/7 and located in downtown Kokomo. Mona developed her own unique style of painting and her work was recognized for its vibrancy and bold expressiveness. Mona exhibited at the Kokomo Art Center, Artworks Gallery, Kokomo Howard County Public Library, along with other venues during her time in Kokomo. She also participated in a group gallery exhibition “Love Fusion” at Rhine Hall in Kokomo in 2024. Her work can be found in numerous private collections.
In 2025, our local art community lost a beautiful member when Ramona passed away. Her family has created “Mona’s Art Gallery” in her second floor studio to honor Mona’s legacy of art. Her vibrant and beautiful paintings are on exhibit and available for purchase through her family.
Continuing Mona’s beautiful legacy of art, her son Omar Daniels has begun his own artistic journey. Recently, Omar collaborated on two of Mona’s in-progress art pieces, adding his own creative touches and connecting with her artistic spirit along the way. These pieces are an expressive exploration of societal issues in an artistic context. The viewer may find these works quite relevant and thought provoking. The act of creating these collaborative art pieces and continuing his mother’s art has been a healing and beautiful process. May Omar continue to honor her work and grow as an artist. Thank you, Omar, for bringing these special collaborative artworks to exhibit.
