We join our region and the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, a true Tennessee legend whose extraordinary life and legacy are woven deeply into the fabric of East Tennessee.

Dolly Parton’s impact on East Tennessee reaches far beyond the music she gave the world. She showed us that you can carry where you come from with pride, dream as big as you dare, and use your gifts to lift up the people around you.

Her legacy lives in the songs she wrote, the stories she told, the opportunities she created, and in the countless people who found a little more courage to dream because Dolly dreamed first.

She never forgot where she came from. And she spent her life showing the world that where you come from never has to limit where you can go.

Her songs will continue to echo through our mountains. Her stories will continue to be told. Her generosity will continue to change lives. And every month, somewhere, a child will open a book with their name on it and begin imagining a bigger world. All because of Dolly.

We are grateful for the life, creativity, compassion, and enduring love for East Tennessee that Dolly Parton shared with us all. She will be profoundly missed. ❤️‍🩹
