A full edition of the Sunny Knik News dated August 1917. This paper was published by Orville George Herning, his wife, Mattie, and son, George (a.k.a. Stanley). At the time, they were running the original Knik Trading Co. in Knik and the new Knik Trading Co. in Wasilla simultaneously.

A 35mm slide image from the Redington Family Collection titled "Boat called Nomad, bought from Bob Mathison."

The seller's full name was Robert Louis Mathison (1892-1967), who may have co-owned the vessel with his brother, Charles Samuel Mathison (1883-1960).

After purchasing the boat, Joe Redington, Sr. used it primarily for trips between Knik and Flat Horn Lake.

In 1967, he took the Nomad to a pond at high tide just south of Knik-Goosebay Road Mile 13, where it's been sitting ever since.
