"That's a wrap"! The Hoosier Gym Board Of Directors and all of our awesome volunteers want to thank all of the fans from many U.S. states and Canada for a great weekend celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the movie "Hoosiers". Movie night on Friday was well attended and many fans returned Saturday for our sold out banquet which featured a meal catered by M&M Catering from Knightstown along with a question and answer and some cool stories by our special guests. We would like to give special thanks to Kent Sterling who MC'd our event and the Hickory Husker players Maris Valainis (Jimmy) Brad Long (Buddy) Steve Hollar (Rade) Angelo Pizzo (writer) along with two of the Travel Aires quartet Darrin Lafferty and Kenny Jobe who sang the National Anthem at the final game in the movie. They also donated the original transcript to a song used in the soundtrack of the movie "Do Lord". Thank you for your generous gift. The evening was followed up with autograph signings and many fans sharing stories. We would also like to thank Don Davis a great friend of the gym who started the "Movie Hoosiers Collectors" page which has linked fans who collect memorabilia and trade stories. We also would like to thank Darryll Baker for bringing the Hickory bus, Bob Brown who brought Coach Dale's car and Don Manlove who brought the fire truck used in the movie. This was the first time these three vehicles were together since 1985. Good friend Chris Brown from Alma Michigan who creates many of our art posters was on hand with his son Cason and presented us with his latest piece "Shooter" which will be available soon so stay tooned. Local artist Larry Gosser who created a special numbered art print was also on hand. There are many who we need to thank we may have forgotten. Just know we appreciate you all. Lastly, a special thanks to all of the Hoosier Gym volunteers for the countless hours given for over a year to help make this event happen. Without you we cannot do events like this. The movie is 40 years old. The Hoosier Gym will always strive to keep this movie alive. It is indeed "The Greatest Sports Movie Of All Time". Time to start thinking about the 45th Anniversary! More photos coming soon.
