Williamsburgh HIstorical Society celebrated an afternoon at Thorntree House. Our Revolutionary War era home was decorated in grand Christmas Cheer with tasty treats and the sounds of Christmas. Plus Wendell Voiselle shared a story of Christmas past with the attendees. I wish you all could have been there. Here are some pictures for those that missed our event.

Don't forget the Society will host our Founder's Day event in January highlighting the history of our Hugenot ancestors here in South Carolina.

The Williamsburg Historical Society held its annual meeting April 6 at Thorntree. Director Wendell Voiselle thanked outgoing board members Sam Clarkson, Irma Brockington, and Lynn Wilson for their service, while welcoming new members Sarah Reynolds, Beth Jonte, and Ron Fulton. Guest speaker was Florence attorney and historian Ben Ziegler, who spoke about the period of August-October 1780 in this area, six weeks that changed the course of the American Revolution. After refreshments, Wendell Voiselle, Ben Ziegler and Margaret Chandler unveiled a new kiosk in front of historic Thorntree, which was purchased with a grant to help promote the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
