Hello! We’re the African American Archives of Williamsburg County, located in Kingstree, SC. We’re focused on preserving the voices of Black and African American people in Williamsburg County, past and present, famous and not-so-famous.

Our goal is to create a platform to amplify and share Black voices, stories, and experiences. Within our physical space as well as online you can contribute to a living history as well as find resources and do your own research on family history.

We’re not fully up and running yet, but in the meantime we’re building our collection of stories and artifacts in order to ensure the Archives are a valuable source of information. If you’re interested in contributing or participating, you can submit a memory, photo, artifact, record a conversation, or let us know if you have any more information about any of the topics you see in the exhibit. (More details about the exhibit and participation/ contribution to come.)

In the meantime, follow us to stay up to date on our progress and learn more about African American history in Williamsburg!
