Happy New Year from KMOCA!

After an amazing 10-year run, with deep gratitude and a measure of sadness, we are announcing that KMOCA is closing its doors at 103 Abeel Street. We couldn’t have made it this far without your crucial support. We are also indebted to all the directors, volunteers, and artists who have helped us build this unique community art space over the years. We want to give a special shout-out to Nancy Donskoj for providing us with an affordable space.

It is our intention that KMOCA will live on through events and projects in a more ephemeral form (think pop-up shows and creative partnerships).

The cornerstone of KMOCA has been our commitment to smart and edgy work produced right here in the Hudson Valley region. The artistic talent in our community is staggering and we encourage you to continue supporting our HV artists by buying and viewing their work in area galleries and arts organizations like the Women’s Studio Workshop, One Mile Gallery, ARTBAR Gallery, Anvil Gallery, CHRCH Project Space, Ann Street Gallery, Matteawan Gallery, The Center for Photography at Woodstock, Cross Contemporary, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum among others.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wassaic Project

Wassaic Project

We recognize that artists who have families often opt-out of peer community building for practical reasons: residencies don’t often take children, events happen late at night, childcare is expensive. Bowie, Jeff and Eve (Wassaic co-founders) have kids; they’re all artists. They have families that they want to be with and not away from. And they ALSO want to connect with other artist peer groups and build community. While we can’t solve all these problems at once (yet!), we have solved the first one: we now offer Family Residencies from January – May from 1 to 8 weeks in length.
