A Visit to Summer Willow - 2015
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 16" x 20"

When I came across the scene, I saw the beauty in it right away. I would drive by it on certain days in my work truck, and it always made me think that would be a nice scene to paint. I added the deer to the scene, because it always is nice to have an animal included. To me there is nothing more awe inspiring than God's creation.

Man of Sorrows (2022)
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 24" x 30"
Over 100 hours and over 6 months to paint
My wife and I had gone through (and still are) the most difficult two years of our lives. We lost her brother to Covid and many dear friends of ours also passed away during this time. My mother's dementia has become worse and it is painful in the sense that she lives five hundred miles away from us and the ability to help and be with her is a constant concern of ours. I also contracted covid in January of this year, with double pneumonia and was out of work for six weeks. I am still on oxygen at night heading into the eighth month. We had to leave
the farm we lived on for 20 years because our beloved landlord passed away and they had to auction off the property. We were heartbroken and I struggled deeply with my faith that God would provide another place for us. I went through
deep depression and crippling anxiety and prayed every day for relief. It was extremely slow in coming and I am still not the same person I was 3 or 4 years
ago. But during this time of sorrow and pain , I thought of the One who the Bible says in the book of Isaiah, "was despised and rejected-a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief." Isaiah 53:3 I decided that this painting would show how we feel and how many, many others also have or are currently feeling.
The mighty hero is Jesus carrying our sorrows, He understands, as He carries the faces on the cross of each dear suffering soul. The glass jar wrapped around Jesus' waist, is filled with our tears He promises to keep in a bottle as a reminder of His great awareness of what we go through. He loves us and one day those who trust in Him will no longer shed tears as He wipes them all away, as we will be in heaven forever.

Great Grandpa Abbruzzese - 2022
(gift to my Italian relatives)
I thought it looked interesting to me, so I took up the challenge. I normally don't do portraits, because I find it hard to capture a likeness. When I showed it to my cousins, they said it looked just like him. He normally did not wear a cowboy hat, but my cousin had just come back from California with his new hat, and he put it on for the fun of it, then stuck a cigarette in his mouth. Maybe He was trying to be the "Marlboro Man", for those old enough to remember the advertisements. Also he was a great loving man, from what I remember.

The Work of Your Fingers ( Psalm 8 ) - 1995
I have always been fascinated with the stars and the universe and God's vast creation. I was inspired to paint this piece after my wife and I honeymooned in Maine in a remote area where you could see the stars clearly in our Milky Way galaxy through the trees at night. I titled the painting based on Psalm 8, verse 3 which exclaims, "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained..".God is a magnificent Creator. Billions and billions of stars in billions and billions of galaxies. How big and powerful our God is.
In the Creation story in Genesis 1:16, it says He made the stars also. As if it was no big deal. For our awesome God, it is no big deal. In another way it is big because He created them for us, the very one's He loves so dearly. The Word of God says that God created everything through His Son Jesus Christ. Amazing how the Creator then at the right time became a human being to then die for His own creation so that we could spend all eternity with Him loving on us and showing us all His great artwork throughout the universe. Jesus, the greatest Artist of all time!

Psalm 42 (1996)
Oil on Canvas
This painting is based on beautiful Psalm 42, which starts off "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God." (Psalm 42:1) I painted a large male deer running towards a brook at full speed, while the fawn and mother doe watch from the other side of the stream. He is the example to the family of a Godly leader, seeking after God with all his heart. Psalm 42 doesn't leave out the difficulties of real life as verse 5 talks about being depressed and discouraged, while leading us back to the only real hope, even if it takes a very long time, that hope being in God calling Him my Savior and my God! As a Christian we do go through painful times, but our only true help comes from the One who is in control of everything. See if you can find any other animals in the painting as well as the name of Jesus.

Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to view a selection of Dennis Lipp's paintings at the Wayne County Center For the Arts through the end of this week! This piece, "Hornet" (2021) is an acrylic painting on canvas that shows God's glorious creation. About the painting Dennis says "I painted this and finished this piece during the summer at the height of when hornet populations are the most aggressive. Sure enough, I got stung by an upset hornet which I must have either stepped on or came too close to his girlfriend. As I walked home with 2 painful stings (which I had to go to Urgent Care twice for because of an allergic reaction), I thought that is the thanks I get for painting your picture! I probably need to paint butterflies, which are beautiful anyway. What I found so fascinating was how it was so amazingly designed. God is truly a remarkable
designer and engineer, even though He could have left the stinger out of this design.
He has His reasons, and I am sure when first created, it was a useful, not harmful purpose."

This piece, Revelation: Fury and Majesty by Dennis Lipp, is designed to represent the book of Revelation and the coming judgement of mankind in a picture that captures a world in chaos and upheaval and the glory of Christ that offers salvation from the impending wrath. Sixteen years in the making, this oil painting on canvas depicts the meaning of the word revelation, which translates from Greek into "apocalypse" or "to uncover, reveal, or unveil." With the detail of the events painted, seeing this artwork in person allows for a better view of all the aspects at work in the piece; Revelation: Fury and Majesty will be on display at the Wayne Center for the Arts between January 12th and February 10th.
More information on the location of the display can be found on the Wayne Center for the Arts website

"Earth, Moon, and Stars Table" (2014)
29 1/4 inches high and 14 inches round at top
Acrylic on Oak Wood Table
Approx. 40 hours to paint
When I first set eyes on the round table, I immediately envisioned the earth on the top with the scripture verse John 3:16 painted on the side edge. On the bottom round section, I envisioned the moon with the verse from Psalm 8:3.
Everywhere else on the table, I painted numerous stars and galaxies. Our great Creator, Jesus (Colossians 1:15-17) is truly an awesome God to have created our marvelous Earth and Moon and planets and the billions of stars contained in billions of galaxies. Praise be to Him!
