Maison Dieu in Faversham, Kent, is all that remains of a monastery established by Henry III in 1234.

Made from brick, wattle and daub, it later cared for the sick and elderly until its closure in 1519, and today serves as a museum displaying local Roman artefacts.

Canterbury’s Westgate, built around 1379, is England’s largest surviving medieval city gate.

Once the principal entrance to the city, it later became a prison before reopening as a museum in 1906, and today houses the Westgate Towers Museum and modern escape rooms.
