The mission of our museum is to preserve the history of the former NAS Barbers Point and Naval aviation in the State of Hawai'i. Our primary focus is to have a historical collection of Naval aircraft on static display that were stationed at NAS Barbers Point. You will not see USAF, US Army or any other aircraft that never flew permanently in Hawaii in the collection unless it was stationed here. (

For example, an F-14 would not be hosted, but an F-18 would be displayed on the ramp). Through our hands-on, educational and fun-for-all tours, we tell the story of Naval Aviation in Hawai'i.

UPDATE:
Today was our hearing (via video conference) on our Motion for Preliminary Injunction. As the State filed a Motion for Summary Judgment, it was heard on calendar today as well.

Unfortunately, our Motion was denied. The State's Motion was granted.

To sum it up, the State got away with doing what they wanted with no accountability.

To clarify ~ we were not evicted. The terms of the previously named "eviction" were thrown out early on in court when we proved the false 3 contention points the State threw at us and tried to get the public to believe. #1) No Insurance. We provided proof of insurance for the last 20 years. #2) Environmental Issues. We provided proof of passing State's inspection. #3) Unauthorized Space. We proved our case on the terms of the ramp space. After providing proof of compliance, the State then turned this into a matter of "we just don't want you here because we are redeveloping JRF (Kalaeloa Airport) and we need the space you are occupying".

Through the thick and thin of this whole case, it turned into a simple "they are the landlords - you are the tenants", therefore, they can do what they want because there is a 30 day revocable permit. (Which is like a contract/lease which most tenants on the airport get).

So..... although the Judge (who's very own father was in the 442!) seemed to be on our side and sympathetic early on, somewhere along the line, couldn't justify why we would get to stay where a "landlord" wanted their space back. He couldn't find where "the law" was favorable to us.

While most "tenants" would get 30 days to remove property and leave, we fought hard for longer time. We were able to get 90 days. 90 days to wrap up 20 years of history. How mighty nice of the State DOT-A. We know that nothing will take our place for a long time to come. Who would want to fall under the unfair rules of the State DOT-A?

At this time, we are going to do our best to make other arrangements to protect our artifacts, gear, equipment and aircraft. This precious historical collection will not be destroyed under our watch and will not be treated as boxed up garbage. We won't let it.

For now, NAMBP is still an entity. They cannot take that away from us. Until we decide to close up shop & dissolve our Board and entity, we still exist. Even beyond the 90 days.

This has been an extremely difficult situation. We are heartbroken and absolutely disgusted with the outcome today. We want to humbly thank all of you for everything you have done over the 20 years and during this situation, to support us. You are what kept us going. All of you.

Please know that we are doing what we can to keep the memory of the former NAS Barbers Point alive. Our Veterans who have sacrificed their lives for our very freedom will not be forgotten, nor will all the Veterans, Military, civilians, etc. Everyone counts.

We will keep you all informed as things move along. We are sorry to have to share this unhappy news.

Please keep sharing your stories and memories. We will not be shutting down.

Mahalo from all of us at NAMBP.

Aloha everyone ~

Sorry we haven't been posting much lately. These trying times have not been easy for us as we know they have not been for all of you as well.

We wanted to let you all know that we have our next court hearing (via video) on Wednesday, June 10th at 1330.

This is our continued hearing for our original Motion for Preliminary Injunction.

We are still doing our best to keep NAMBP alive and going. We cannot allow the State of Hawaii, DOT-A to erase our history and that of the former NAS Barbers Point.

We will keep you informed as more transpires.

Mahalo to all of you for your continued support! We appreciate it more than you know.

Our GoFundMe page is still up and running and we appreciate all you can do to assist.

DOTA REFUSED TO SETTLE. DOTA LIED TO THE JUDGE. Our Motion continues to June 10, 2020. Your support is needed more than ever. Mahalo to all of you!

We are back in the courtroom at 1330 today. Settlement conference continues. We will keep you posted. Mahalo for your support!

UPDATE: Today we had our Settlement Conference. Both sides confidentially presented to the Judge. After a long and trying afternoon, the Judge continued the settlement discussions to Monday, March 9th at 1330. We are thankful for everyone's continued support and also for the Judge who is willing to listen to what we have to say and not be quick to dismiss us. We want everyone to know we are giving this all we've got and we are not giving up! We hope to work things out with DOTA and continue our mission and operations so we can get back to our precious collection and have all of you join us in the future on our flightline! Please continue to support us and if you are able, please continue to contribute to our legal defense fund on GoFundMe at Save Naval Air Museum Barbers Point. Everything helps and we truly appreciate it! Mahalo from all of us at NAMBP!

UPDATE: After approximately 4 hours of testimony today, the Judge moved us to settlement discussions. We have our Settlement Conference scheduled for March 5, 2020 at 1330. Surprisingly [and rightfully due] the Judge was quite interested in our case. He took great interest in us. Although he did not grant our Motion for the preliminary injunction, he did not deny it either. Moving to settlement is good.

We still have much ahead. Next, we need to propose a settlement offer. Both sides need to present by March 2, 2020, prior to the Conference on March 5th. If we cannot reach settlement which works for both sides, we will proceed to trial on June 10, 2020 at 1330.

We would like to thank all of you for your continued support and also thank our sideline crew who showed up to support us at the hearing today.

We will continue to keep you all updated.

Mahalo from all of us at NAMBP!!

NAMBP's hearing asking the Judge to grant us a Preliminary Injunction in the matter against the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation - Airports Division, is set for this Friday, February 21, 2020 at 0830. First Circuit Court, Honolulu.

This is a public hearing and anyone who can attend on behalf of NAMBP is invited and encouraged to attend. (Please share to everyone you know!)

Public interest is important for us in this matter. We need to stop the actions of DOT-A and hold them accountable for trying to erase history in Hawaii and shutting down the Museum's efforts to preserve that history & honoring those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. Mahalo for your support!

We know this is just a first step, but we couldn't have taken that step without your support and encouragement. We know it's tough to give money, especially during the Christmas season, and we're immensely grateful to those of you who have dug deep for us. We're also thankful for those who can't give at this time, who have spread the word, made calls and written letters in support, signed the petition, and kept us motivated through your comments here on Facebook.
