We were honored to host an incredible evening celebrating the life and legacy of Hung Liu, in partnership with Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art.
The event brought together friends, collectors, and supporters to champion The Ghosts of History: The Life and Art of Hung Liu, a powerful new documentary currently in production. Directed by Martin Huberman and produced and cinematographed by Rob Humphreys, the film traces Hung Liu’s journey through war, revolution, exile, and artistic breakthrough, revealing how her work transforms personal memory into collective history.
This evening also served as a fundraiser to support the film’s production, helping bring this important story to life. Presented by Maryland Public Television, the documentary is set to air in May 2027 during Asian American History Month. Through rare archival footage, original interviews, and an evocative score, it promises an intimate portrait of an artist whose work continues to resonate across generations and cultures.
It was a truly special night supporting visionary filmmakers and honoring a lifelong friend. If you would like to contribute, donations are still being accepted to help make the film even better and ensure Hung Liu’s story reaches the widest possible audience.
I even got to give my interview talking about by experience working with Hung Liu and the friendship we cultivated over the decades and how honored we have been to help promote and solidify her enduring artistic legacy.
