🎙️ Something exciting is coming to the Media Tech Museum!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new podcast, Tech Over Time, premiering next Monday, October 19!

Today, we kicked things off with filming featuring two special guests, Chuck Haddix and Kim Kankiewicz!

🎶 Chuck Haddix, author, radio announcer and producer, music historian, and former curator of the Marr Sound Archives, shares his knowledge of Kansas City’s rich history of jazz, radio, and recorded music.

☎️ Kim Kankiewicz, Kansas City-based writer and historian, explores the fascinating history of telephone technology and the women who helped connect a nation.

From the golden age of radio to the evolution of communication technology, Tech Over Time celebrates the people, stories, and innovations that shaped the way we connect with the world.

🎶 A new addition to The Media Tech Museum! 🎶

Meet the 1977 Seeburg STD4 “Mardi Gras” Jukebox — a colorful piece of jukebox history that is sure to catch your eye!

Introduced in the fall of 1977, the Mardi Gras is known for its bold, colorful design and unique place in Seeburg history. It was the company’s last digital jukebox to use the classic “Black Box” and “Gray Box” solid-state control system, as well as the last 160-selection model to feature the iconic Tormat memory unit.

Come check out this incredible piece of music and technology history, now on display at The Media Tech Museum! 🎵📻✨

📷🎬 A Journey Through the Evolution of Media & Technology! 🎬📷
Last Thursday, CAPS Digital Design & Photography and CAPS Filmmaking & Animation students explored the fascinating world of communication technology during a visit to the Media Tech Museum in downtown Kansas City. From late 19th-century inventions to today’s cutting-edge tools, students experienced an expansive collection featuring radios, telephones, televisions, cameras, speakers, studio lights, recording equipment, & so much more. 📽️📺️
The visit offered a unique look at how media and technology have evolved over time and continue to shape the way we create, communicate, and tell stories. 📻️
