Crating a circa 1830 mechanical desk signed “Lesage” ! Antoine-Nicolas Lesage was one of the premier makers / dealers of the romantic period in Paris. Many of the pieces bearing his mark seemed to have been commissioned from other cabinetmakers such as Jacob or Bellangé for Lesage to merely sell in his 9th arrondissement shop. Lesage passed away in 1841, but one can still find references to his boutique in Balzac novels or simply the few signed pieces which show up on the art market annually.
