No, this isn’t a still from 1950s B-Science Fiction movie, it’s actually an early Michelin Tires ad starring an early iteration of the Michelin Man, the tire creature who has appeared in advertisements since 1898. Since then, the character has appeared in ads across mediums, and in France during the early 20th century he was less a spokesperson and more of a folk hero.

The character made his way across the world, and as tires became thicker so did the Michelin Man.
