The museum ,which is located at the Cambia County War Memorial Arena on 326 Napoleon Street in downtown Johnstown, Pennsylvania, features photo's, patches, personal items, medals, and uniforms from World War I to and including the War in Afghanistan. The museum has such items as an ACTUAL CIVIL WAR DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE and today's food called "Meals Ready to Eat" (MRE's). The museum is a special place to pause and reflect on our past and into the future. Unlike most war museums, the War Memorial Veterans Museum is a more of a personal nature than just equipment, weapons and such items. The museums curator is SSG (Retired) Warren L. McKinney, a 25 year U.S. Army Operation Desert Storm Veteran, has curated the museum since he took over in 2000. Warren volunteers much of his time so he can keep the memory of those who proudly serve alive, and to honor their service. Like those in the museum, Warren was proud to help defend the freedoms we now enjoy. If you have a group who would like to visit the museum you can call Warren at 814-421-9606 or 814-539-0835 to make reservations. The museum is open during all the Johnstown Tomahawks home hockey games. There is no charge for visiting the museum, but all donations would be gladly accepted. The Administrator of this Facebook Museum page is not Warren McKinney. To get a hold of him by phone is the numbers listed above. The Administrator is his 23 year old grandson Dustin Rummell. If you post questions on wall Dustin will be more than happy to deliver your questions and will answer you back as soon as possible.
