Veterans Memorial Museum The museum is located within the Cambia County War Memorial Arena at 326 Napoleon Street, Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Thank you and enjoy all we have to offer.

The Veteran Museum is a place where you can preserve and honor the memory of a loved one who served proudly and honorably in the armed forces of the United States of America. The museum is dedicated to the women and men of the surrounding area who have served in the United States military. The museum was first commissioned as a Union Cemetery after the Civil War, but after the flooding in 1889 the

cemetery was destroyed and the graves were reinterned at the Grandview and Sandyvale Cemeteries. The arena was built in 1950 and designated as the War Memorial Arena in honor of the returning veterans from World War II. The museum features photo's, patches, personal items, medals, and uniforms from World War I to the Global Wars on Terrorism. There is no entrance cost, but donations are welcomed. The museum is open during most events at the arena. Additionally, we are open for groups by invitation. Requests can be made through the arena's main phone line at 814-565-5156. If you have military items you believe would be appropriate for the museum they can be donation via the arena's main office.

The 3nd talk of our series on Cambria County Veterans' "First 100 Years" celebrating 250 years of the American Veteran will be Friday, June 26th @ 6:30pm.

Our featured speaker is Dr. Paul Newman, historian and professor at UPJ. He will speak on Pennsylvania’s Revolution as an Indian War. Co-Hosted by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The museum will be open and food/refreshments will be served compliments of 'Flare of Country' and 1st Summit Arena.

Please come and tell your friends. It will be a good time and we can socialize afterwards with the open bar!

The roughly 160,000 Allied troops who landed in Nazi-occupied France on June 6, 1944, not only successfully executed the largest air, land and sea invasion in history, they did so amid daunting obstacles, terrible bloodshed and stakes that couldn’t have been higher.

“We will accept nothing less than full Victory!” their commander, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, told them. And victory, in this battle, was far from certain in the first hours of that first day.

Full victory had a price. It was measured in human life. The Normandy Campaign (June 6 – Aug 21, 1944), the broader battle to secure and expand the Normandy beachhead was even more costly, resulting in well over 226,000 Allied casualties and an estimated 200,000 to 240,000 German casualties.

Lest We Forget those who died, received wounds, and those who selflessly served.

You are invited to the Cambria County Veteran Museum 2026 Spring Speakers Series on Cambria County Veterans' "First 100 Years" on Friday, June 26th @ 6:30pm.

For our second talk yesterday, Mr. Chris Baran, Educator and noted Civil War historian, spoke yesterday on Johnstown's three infantry companies who helped fill the ranks of Pennsylvania's 3rd Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the early days of the Civil War.

We had a fantastic turnout for our second in a series of six talks celebrating the " First 100 Years of the American Veteran". With over 70 people we well exceeded our expectations! Special Thanks to the Col. Jacob Campbell's Camp of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War for co-hosting this event and 1st Summit Arena and Flare of Country for their sponsorships!

Educator and noted Civil War historian, Chris Baran, spoke on Johnstown's militias filling three of ten companys composing the 3rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and the early days of the Civil War in our area. Living historians spoke about uniforms of the 3rd Pennsylvania and 54th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiments and the weapons and gear they carried.

Our next talk will be Friday, June 26th @ 6:30pm. Dr. Paul Newman, historian and professor at UPJ, will speak on Pennsylvania’s Revolution as an Indian War. Co-Hosted by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
