Morning Run

Less than a mile downstream of the Greer’s Ferry Dam on the Little Red River, in the early morning. Chilly and humid, but the fishing was great and lots of anglers enjoying the action.
This is a beautiful area to visit in Heber Springs Arkansas!

Heading out around the Bend

This is the Steel Creek put in point on the Buffalo National River, from our kayak trip in the Spring of 2025. This float is one of the most scenic on the Buffalo, with the Iconic Roarks Bluff immediately above this spot, but in full view from the campground.

“The Castle”

The Army-Navy hospital in Hot Springs was originally established in 1877, then updated to this magnificent structure in 1933. Using the healing waters for therapy on our veterans, it was deeded to the State of Arkansas in 1960, subsequently used as a Rehabilitation Center, then The Arkansas Training Institute before closing in 2019. Sometimes referred to as ‘The Castle” as it overlooks Bathhouse Row and downtown Hot Springs.

After a visit to the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo, I was looking forward to painting some of the gators. Feeding time brought out the best in them….And, with Alligator season upon my friends in Louisiana, it seemed an appropriate time as well.
