Among the one hundred clerks discharged from the pension bureau on Saturday, in a reduction of force, was the granddaughter of Francis Scott Key.

The peacock’s spreading train is not the bird’s tail, but a corona of feathers above the tail.

The tower on the Presbyterian church is 110 feet high on top of the weathervane.

The incorporation application for the Presbyterian Church of Jersey Shore.

The opening exercises in the new Presbyterian Church will commence with an organ recital on Friday evening, July 12, 1895.

The new pipe organ in the Presbyterian church is almost completed.

Wood and Childs are hard at work erecting their new sawmill at Cammal.

Paul Busler of Nippenose Valley, has a pair of steelyards that were imported from Germany. They were made in 1308.

A Chinese laundry will soon be opened in Jersey Shore.

Miss Emma Grier, daughter of A.C. Grier, of Oriole, will enter Muncy Normal next month.

John Sents is the driver of the Houser delivery wagon.

The Beech Creek Railroad Company has laid off several operators for a few months because of light traffic.

Near Corry recently indignant citizens gave Chester Wright, who married a 14-year-old girl, sixteen days after his wife died, to leave town.

A fatal wreck occurred on the Beech Creek Road about three o’clock this morning caused by running over a cow.

Township constables have the right to arrest someone outside the limits of town.

H.M. Smith, of Pottsville, was bitten on the hand by a tarantula while handling bananas, and amputation may be necessary.

A corps of engineers has been at work for some time surveying a new railroad from St. Mary’s, Elk County, to Clermont, McKean County.

The Warren centennial celebration will also occur on July 2,3 and 5.

Woodcock will be lawful game on and after July 4th.

The exposition building of the Lycoming Centennial is now in the hands of the Antiquarian committee.

There are thirteen miles of bookshelves in the British Museum, Londen.

The first “canals of Mars” was discovered in 1877 by Professor Schiaparelli, astronomer of the Royal Observatory at Milano, Italy.

There are over 70 miles of tunnels cut in the solid rock of Gibraltar.

“News of the Week of June 12, 1895, from The Jersey Shore Herald and the Jersey Shore Vidette.

The wife of Mr. Daniel Knauff died Thursday morning at 11:40 o’clock, at 436 Lycoming Street, Williamsport. Aged 49 years. The remains were taken to Collomsville for internment.

Children’s Day exercises in the Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches.

A.T. Shadle has purchased W.E. Gheen’s interest in a number of trotting horses.-Nippenose News.

The ladies’ auxiliary of Jersey Shore and Porter Township met at the home of Mrs. Carrie Sides Thursday evening.

A bicycle parade will be held in Jersey Shore sometime this month.

A runaway team of Liverman A.W. Brown caused a little excitement on Monday afternoon.

W.B. DeLong resigned as school director of the Third ward and was elected janitor of the new building.

The Beech Creek railroad placed a new siding at the Sebring lime kilns.

On Friday, June 14, a series of professional bicycle races will be held at Brook Park, near Lewisburg.

Mrs. Michael Buckhart, of South Bethlehem, has discovered that a stove is a dangerous place to hide money.

The ladies of the Presbyterian church will hold a cake and ice cream festival on the lawn at the home of Capt. P.D. Bricker, on Allegheny Street, Tuesday evening.

A large farm barn belonging to G.W. Clark in Nippenose Valley was totally destroyed by a windstorm on Sunday afternoon last.

Ed. Maffett and Ed. Crist climbed to the top of the brick smokestack of the old sawmill of Wood & Childs and placed a flag on it.

The ladies of the Zion Lutheran church will hold a festival on Wednesday evening June 12, in Edsall’s room on Allegheny Street.

The baseball game between Lock Haven and the home club on Memorial Day was a one-sided affair. The score was 22 to 7 in favor of Lock Haven.

Capt. P.D. Bricker, trustee for the White estate, will offer thirty-three building lots at public sale on Saturday June 8th.

Mr. George Crawford, of Pine Creek Township, Clinton County, while prospecting on his lands on Queen’s Run last week, discovered two veins of coal.

A platform dance for the accommodation of the public will be held at the culvert, near Allegheny Street, west of the Fall Brook depot, Jersey Shore, on Thursday evening.

The beautiful services of Decoration Day were properly observed.

An ice cream and strawberry festival will be held at Frieden’s church, in Mifflin Township, Lycoming County, on Friday and Saturday, June 21, and 22, 1895.

Mr. Charles Hauser died yesterday afternoon about 5 o’clock after months of intense suffering, aged 66 years.

Mrs. Chas. G. Hauser will continue the brewing business at the old stand on Thompson Street.

The Lutheran church will observe Children’s Day next Sunday.

Mr. William Maffitt, a former resident of Jersey Shore, died at the residence of his is ter, Mrs. Mary E. Stewart, at Westport, Clinton County. He Was 82 years of age.

John McMullan is learning the barbering business with H.D. Betts.

Married at the United Evangelical parsonage in Lock Haven was Newton H. Phleger, of Oriole and Maggie E. Rickey, of Loganton.

The annual camp meeting at Pine will be held from Thursday, August 1st to Tuesday, August 13th.

The Public School Report is published.

A baby girl came to the home of William Sample one day last week.

A heavy wind and rainstorm swept over part of this section Sunday at noon causing much damage to cops, buildings and timber.
