On this date in 1973, Virginia Timmer, Gerald Scholma and someone else from the Save the Tiffany House group met with Jim Gibson from Congressman Guy Vanderjagts Muskegon office and Congressman Gerald Ford regarding saving the Tiffany house from the wrecking ball. Gerald Ford would become Vice president in about 6 months and became our President in about 1.5 years when Richard Nixon resigned.

Tommorrow begins the first phase of voting in the DigMichNews finals for the grant to have the "Grandville Star" Digitized. This phase of the voting requires a mailing a post card with a Michigan Theme to Clarke Library. Today's Advance has a front page story on the project.

https://www.mlive.com/community/2019/01/grandville-sparta-historical-commissions-sparring-for-cmu-digital-newspaper-grant.html

The "Advance" became the local paper when the "Grandville Star Alliance" ceased publication in the early 1970's.

If you don't have a post card you can down load one of the pictures on this page or another Grandville Page and print it on a 3X5 or 4X6 index card. Most printers have a print setting for this. Pre printed post cards are available at the Library, City Hall, and the Rainbow Grill.

It's time to bring the "Grandville Star" into the digital age. Should we win, several years of the Star will be put on line. The commission is looking at several hosting sites.

Hi folks. I was just wondering if anyone knew what other businesses were in the G & K party store on Baldwin? I'm sure it hasn't always been G & K and the building looks like its older than most here in Jenison. Thanks!
Was there a skatepark in jenison in the 70's or 80's?
