Greene County Iowa Historical Society With our programming, museum and special events, we not only preserve the history of our county in west central Iowa, we make it come alive again!

Our Greene County Historical Museum is located at 219 East Lincoln Way in Jefferson, and our mailing address is P.O. Box 435 with Zip code 50129. Museum hours are on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, from May 1 thru October, and by appointment at (515) 386-8544. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. The president of the historical society is David John, of Jefferson.

“Veterans’ Stories: Greene County, Iowa” has been published and includes 59 veterans. Available on Amazon, it’s currently being distributed to contributors, but will be on sale at the Museum by Bell Tower Festival. Louis Swanson, John Marks, John Murphy, Jerry Fields, Michael Subbert, and Brenda Groves got theirs today.
