As Bushy Run works towards fully reopening, we are excited to announce that we will be starting develop more Living History programs. So many people may be wondering, What is Living History?

Living history is an educational medium used by living history museums, historic sites, heritage interpreters, schools and historical reenactment groups to educate the public or their own members in particular areas of history, such as clothing styles, pastimes and handicrafts, or to simply convey a sense of the everyday life of a certain period in history.

Since Bushy Run Battlefield is a volunteer run organization, we are looking for people who are interested in 18th Century Clothing, Food, Soldier Life, Homestead Life, and many other aspects of life in the 18th century. Our intent is to focus on the period from 1750 to 1765 in Colonial America.

If you are interested in becoming a Living History Volunteer, please fill out the volunteer for on our website: https://bushyrunbattlefield.com/volunteer/

If you are interested in learning more about Living History, please check out this video series by Townsends.

Good Morning!
This morning, we are starting something new here on Facebook. It is called, What Is It? We will present a picture of something from the museum, but the picture will be close up. Your job is to guess what the item is.
This one is an easy one for the re-enactors, but maybe not for everyone.
So now, What is it?

Pennsylvania’s Only Recognized Native American Battlefield

Bushy Run Battlefield is the site of a decisive battle during the war known as Pontiac’s War, when Native Americans joined together to fight against European encroachment on their land. Colonel Henry Bouquet and a force of approximately 400 British soldiers left Carlisle in July to relieve a besieged Fort Pitt (in present-day Pittsburgh) and end a series of unchecked attacks against frontier outposts. The British won a decisive victory over the Native Americans at the Battle of Bushy Run, August 5th and 6th, 1763, using tactics still studied by the U.S. military today. Highlights of the site include the interpretive exhibit, “The March to Bushy Run” at the site’s visitor center, as well as guided and self-guided tours, special events, and educational programs.

Great job tonight sharing the history of Colonial Cocktails! Another dimension to Bushy Run Battlefield, and a new slate of recipes in our collection!
I take it there’s no reenactment this year :(
Found our bandanas from last year Paws in the Park! Fun memories😊! They probably won't be doing it again this year with Covid but we walk at Bushy Run with our pups about 5 days a week and they love it!
Hi! Will the August reinactment take place this year? I know asking is a shot in the dark lol.
When will we know if the Aug event is going to be held or cancelled.....
I see the sign saying biking is allowed in designated areas only, but never see any signs saying saying where. Is there a specific trail I can or can’t go on? Thank you
Spring is coming on the trails!
Winter at the Battlefield is beautiful! Lots of people, pets and sleds were taking advantage of the park today!
Thank you to our vendors and guests! Our third annual Christmas Sale was the BEST EVER! Happy Holidays to you and your families. We'll see you in the Spring. The Edge Hill Gift Shop Staff.
It was a very nice event. Lovely display and variety of vendors. Well done!
