Photograph recreated and colorized by me.

This photograph captures the moment when the first assembled Chevrolet was completed on the main conveyor line at the local plant. It was taken for The Janesville Gazette on Wednesday morning. The vehicle in the foreground has reached the end of the assembly line and is being moved into the testing room, where gasoline, water, and oil are introduced into the car via hoses suspended above. Positioned at the rear of the first car are worker Frank Schuler, the foreman of the main conveyor line, A.F. Grimes, who oversees the test floor, and Glenn L. Gardner from the Personnel Department.

The conveyor line transports the chassis along the conveyor using cogs from a single chain located underneath.
This plant aims to manufacture 2,500 cars in March 1923, with plans to accelerate production so that by June, 300 cars will be produced daily.
