Happy 251st Birthday, United States Navy!

On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress established the Continental Navy, beginning a proud legacy of courage, commitment, and service to our nation.

For 251 years, generations of American Sailors have defended our freedom, protected our shores, and answered the call of duty around the world.

Today, we proudly honor the men and women of the United States Navy, past and present, whose dedication and sacrifice have helped safeguard our nation.

We also celebrate the enduring bond between the Navy and Marine Corps—two services united in mission, strengthened by tradition, and committed to defending our country.

Fair winds and following seas. Happy Birthday, U.S. Navy!
