Art in the Village is the premier fine art gallery in Jackson, TN.

They came in looking for paintings. They left with paintings—and a friend. ❤️

Several weeks ago, Bill and Teresa stopped by Art in the Village looking for two paintings for their home.

They had spaces on either side of their TV they wanted to fill, but after looking through the gallery, they couldn’t find a pair that felt quite right.

That’s when our co-founder and artist Mary Spellings told them, “We can create something especially for you.”

They talked. They looked through Bill and Teresa’s photos. And eventually, the perfect subject emerged: their favorite spot to drink coffee and have conversations together.

Mary turned that meaningful little piece of their life into two 18x24 original watercolors.

When Bill and Teresa came to pick them up, Bill told Mary:

“We came in here looking for paintings, but not only did we get the paintings we love, but we also got a friend.”

And that’s what we love about art.

Sometimes you’re choosing something beautiful for an empty wall. But sometimes, in the process, you find a way to preserve a place, a memory, or a part of your life that matters to you.

And every once in a while, you find a new friend, too.

Introducing our September Featured Artist, Jan Sessions 🎨

Jan didn’t begin painting until she was 62.

What started as a new creative outlet became a source of joy, relaxation, and connection. Today, her paintings celebrate familiar scenes—country landscapes, animals, beaches, birds, barns, and changing seasons.

Jan says she wants her paintings “to bring happiness and enjoyment to other people.”

One last chance to see local art at Jackson City Hall! 🎨

August is American Artist Appreciation Month, and today is the final day of this special exhibit featuring work by artists from Art in the Village.

If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, stop by Jackson City Hall and take a few minutes to look around before the exhibit comes down.

Landscapes, animals, abstracts, familiar scenes and unexpected perspectives—these pieces are a lovely reminder of just how much creativity we have right here in our community. ❤️

❤️ This sweet moment happened in the gallery recently. ✨

She’s a veterinarian, so when these cards caught her eye, there really wasn’t much deciding to do. 🐴 They spoke her language—and they left the gallery with her.

That’s one of our favorite things about being here: watching someone discover a piece of art that connects with a part of their life, their work, or simply something they love.

You never quite know what you’ll find when you walk through our door. And sometimes, the smallest piece of art can bring the biggest smile.

From Jackson, Tennessee to Italy ❤️

One of the joys of being a gallery along the way is never knowing who might walk through our doors.

This lovely visitor from Italy stopped in while passing through Jackson, described Art in the Village as “delightful,” and found several of Linda McBride’s charming animal pieces to take home with her.

We love knowing that art created here in our community will now be enjoyed thousands of miles away.

That’s one of our favorite things about art: you don’t have to know exactly what you’re looking for. Sometimes you simply see something that makes you smile—and that’s enough.
